By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Caribbean’s Queen of Comedy, Rachel Price of Trinidad, is the confirmed host for Joy’s Hair Creation7 Fashion Show that will be held at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel on TSunsay, November 15.

The event will showcase the latest North American hairstyles and will be presented by hairstylist Joy Sweeney-Moore, who is originally from Trafalgar Village, St. Kitts but resides in New York.

Persons attending the upscale event can enjoy the latest styles in mohawks, weaves, relaxed styles, finger caps and fingers waves while trying out the new flavours of wine, courtesy of Driftwood.

The event will begin at 400: p.m. and will also feature men’s hair styles by local barber Quincy.

Hair has always been a passion for Moore, according to Karen Crossman, who is also assisting in organising the event.

In 1999, she migrated to Puerto Rico and thence to New York in 2003, where she worked at some notable salons including Precious Lady, Hair Express and Eternal Beauty.

The 30-year-old received professional training from tutors of the prestigious Libs Beauty School in Manhattan.

Crossman told SKNVibes in a previous interview that Moore wants to show the people of St. Kitts and Nevis how she has excelled through hard work while letting them know that beauty is an essential part of growth for a person, whether it is inside or out.

Some of the models confirmed to showcase the styles are from the St. Kitts-based S Model Management and Platinum Models out of Nevis.

There will also be performances by H2O Dance Group. Tickets for the event cost EC$40 and can be obtained at Tyrilda’s Beauty Salon, Step In, and by calling 662-3074.

According to the Jamaica Gleaner, Rachel Price became an official comedian in 2000.

"One of my friends asked me to help out at a club called Metal House (in Trinidad). He asked me to be MC and one lady who was supposed to perform dropped her eyelash and wouldn't come on stage, so I started to talk and they laughed.

“I talked some more and they continued laughing. I became an official comedienne in 2000. After I hosted that first show, I didn't go back, I didn't realise they wanted me back. As I was leaving I got paid and I was like 'wow, I could get paid for doing that'?" she said.

The Gleaner said that Price could easily be described as a hard-hitting comedian, straightforward and charismatic. She has her own television show called Lord Have Mercy, which airs on four different stations in Canada, as well as Trinidad.

Price has also hosted several shows in St. Kitts.
