BVI Press Release
B.V.I. Wednesday, October 21 – Saturday, October 24 marks the start of the 2009 Poppy Appeal and culminates on Saturday, November 7.

The Remembrance Day Service will be held at the Road Town Methodist Church on Sunday, November 8 at 9:30 a.m. All uniformed organisations and ex-servicemen and women are invited to participate. His Excellency the Governor, the Premier, and other public officials will also participate in this annual event.

Members of the public are invited to attend the service and are also encouraged to purchase poppies and wear them on Remembrance Day.   Poppies can be purchased from the Help Desk of the Central Administration Building and from the Best of British store in the Mill Mall.

Started by servicemen and women to make sure later generations never forget the suffering caused by the 1914-1919 World War, the wearing of poppies on Remembrance Day has become much more than a tribute to the dead; it is also a symbol of remembrance, compassion and caring for all victims of war.
