Caribbean American Singer Among Soul Train Awards Nominees

    CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Oct. 23, 2009: Famed Caribbean American singer, Maxwell, is among the top performers nominated for 2009 Soul Train Awards.
     
    Maxwell, born of a Haitian mother and a Puerto Rican father in Brooklyn, NY, leads the pack of nominees with four nominations. Maxwell describes his current project, BLACKsummers`night, as the first installment in a trilogy of albums to be released over three years, beginning July 7, 2009. The second installment, blackSUMMERS`night is scheduled for release in 2010 and the third installment, blacksummers`NIGHT, for 2011.
     
    Tracks from the album include `Pretty Wings,` `Bad Habits,` `Never Do W/Out You,` `Help Somebody` and `Cold.`
     
    Maxwell is up for Best Male Soul, Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year. Meanwhile, in the reggae category, Sean Paul, Ziggy Marley, Movado, Serani and Taurus Riley have all been nominated.
     
    The awards show will premier on Sunday, November 29 on both Centric and BET from the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. It will be hosted by Academy Award-nominated actors Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson and feature performances by Toni Braxton, Erykah Badu, Trey Songz, Robin Thicke and Fantasia among others.
     
    The show will also recognize the outstanding musical work of selected artists in ten prestigious music categories and will honor the phenomenal star power and showmanship of the late Michael Jackson with the special Entertainer of the Year Award.
     
    Also set to be honored for their longstanding careers and musical influences are legendary artists Chaka Khan, Charlie Wilson, L.A. Reid and Kenneth `Babyface` Edmonds. The special will also showcase a Motown Records 50th Anniversary musical celebration.
