BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS: October 26, 2009: Thuvia Browne can now retire her “old” phone and sport her brand new Blackberry 8520. Of the hundreds of entries that were part of a text promotion, her number was randomly selected for the prized blackberry phone. The text promotion which ran over the course of September coincided with the launch by LIME, the Caribbean’s largest full service telecommunications provider, and Research In Motion (RIM) a global leader in wireless innovation, early in September.
Undaunted by her friends’ scoffing that she will never win a prize by texting, Ms Browne said she had no intention of giving up. “I have always participated in LIME’s text promotions determined that some day I will win,” she confessed. “Now that winning is real I have something tangible to prove to my friends that my efforts paid off. Now that I have had the last laugh I plan to encourage them to try their luck,” said a happy Ms Browne.
The first-time winner collected her prize valued at EC$1500 from LIME’s Corporate Communications Manager, Laverne Caines. In extending congratulations to Ms Browne, Mrs Caines commented that she truly deserves to win given her long history of participating in the company’s text promotions over the years. “You are now the owner of a very versatile smartphone in the Blackberry 8520 which I am certain will change your mobile experience forever,” she remarked.
LIME has been known to incorporate a texting promotion with the launch of several of its top of the line phones giving customers an opportunity to have bragging rights as newest owners of a number of fantastic devices.
