Tri-party Leaders Meeting: No decision yet on the way forward

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AFTER being built up as decision day for the coalition Team Unity Administration, many were disappointed as no firm decisions were made on the way forward.

Leaders of the three parties that make up the Government - Dr. Timothy Harris of the People’s Labour Party (PLP), Shawn Richards of the People’s Action Movement (PAM, and Mark Brantley of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) - met at Government Headquarters yesterday (Apr. 6) to iron out their differences that had reached the public’s domain.

Over the last month, Leaders of the CCM and the PAM have been pubicly critcising the Leader of the PLP for what they described as not keeping the promises that he made. Consequently, Dr. Harris had taken to various platforms to address those criticisms.

From complaints of Nevis not receiving its fair share of proceeds from the Citizenship By Investment proceeds to affordable housing being constructed in no constituency, and discussions of one person running for a third term despite an agreement speaking to a rotation after two terms at the helm..

Most who were following the in-fighting within the Government were kept in suspense yesterday after Premier Brantley had indicated that “today we meet to either resolve or dissolve”.

But no information was released on whether or not the meeting made any agreement on the way forward.

A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister indicated that “the meeting was frank but quite cordial” and has set the framework for further discussions set for Thursday, April 14, 2022.
