BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AFTER years of dormancy, the media corps in St. Kitts and Nevis has revived the St. Kitts and Nevis Media Association to look out for the best interest of media practitioners.

At a meeting held last evening (Apr. 13), the seven-member executive was elected with SKN Newsline’s Andre Huie being given the mandate to lead the charge, while Glen Bart, also of SKN Newsline, was voted as First Vice President.

Commenting after the new executive was installed, Huie noted that his priority areas are to have ventilated challenges facing media workers and the issue of Freedom of Information and its existing legislation.

Huie said he would also be engaging more with the wider media fraternity to listen to their feedback on issues and work on bringing everyone together in an effort to raise the standard of journalism in the Federation to the benefit of all.

Meanwhile, the Second Vice President position was won by Jermine Abel, the Director of Communication post was taken by Jamiella McPhail Storrod, while Natasha Morris is the General Secretary, Sharon Richards Assistant Secretary and Devin Richardson is the new Treasurer.
