BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - WITH the General Elections merely weeks away, the People’s Action Movement (PAM) has finalised its slate of candidates with the launch of Lincoln David-Pelle.
He will be the representative for the party to contest the Constituency Seven Seat against Dr. Timothy Harris of the People’s Labour Party and the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party's Leon Natta-Nelson.
Despite the possible uphill task David-Pelle faces to win the Seat, whenever the elections are called, he is optimistic of being victorious for the PAM in a constituency that has, for many years, voted predominantly for Prime Minister Dr. Harris even when he was with the St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party.
In accepting the mantle, the father of two promised to work assidiously not only the people in that constituency - highlighting the Kitts/Nevis spirit - but for all those in the Federation.
“Please understand that I am part of a magical team. However, you are going to see wonders. We are not here to speak but we are here to bring action,” noted David-Pelle.
The newly-minted PAM candidate is the brother of Police Superintendent, Lindon David and is the holder of many qualification certificates that put him in a perspective with the ordinary citizens.
He promised that the party would bring changes that would greatly impact the citizenry.
Leader of the People’s Action Movement, Shawn Richards, who was in full campaign mode, noted that the PAM/CCM message is gaining ground across the entire country, and it is also reaching those who are unsure of their political position.
“I have absolutely no doubt that in this upcoming election that energy, that renewal, your voices will resound loudly and clearly to say that two many families cannot make ends meet; too many young people are discouraged; too many workers feel victimised and unappreciated,” Richards told the gathering.
The party is now targeting the undecided voters as a priority area in order to win seats if they are to form the next government.
Political pundits have found it difficult to pronounce on the upcoming elections, due in part to the fact that the tripartite government collapsed and there wouidll be a third party in the race this time around.
But Richards believes that the people would make their voices heard by the way they vote, signalling that they “want to help us safeguard the gains that we have made in the last seven years while ensuring that you and your family are recognised as equal to any other Kittitian or Nevisian”.
While pointing out that the people deserve their seat at the table, the former Deputy Prime Minister charged that the people of the Federation need their “sure share” of everything St. Kitts and Nevis has to offer, pointing out that that could only be done if they were to support the People’s Action Movement.
