Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 07, 2022 (SKNIS): Ten individuals with more than 300 years in the civil aviation industry were applauded by Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Honourable Marsha Henderson, for their years of service to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The nine men and one woman were identified by the Minister as she made a national address on Wednesday to mark World Aviation Day 2022. World Aviation Day is celebrated annually on December 07. They are Denzil Jones, former airport manager at the St. Christopher Air and Sea Port Authority (SCASPA), Regulator at the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority and member of the Airport Transport Licensing Board. Mr. Jones’ career spans 46 years. David Blake and John Morton were also recognized, each with 46 years of service. David Hendrickson served 44 years. Elsworth Warner served 38 years at SCASPA, while Robert Bob Warner and Bernard Rawlins have 30 years of service, respectively.

Minister Henderson also saluted Joseph Taylor, who served for 21 years; Mary Nurse Clarke, who served for 20 years; Conrod Liburd and many others.

“Today, we celebrate this moment as we honour the men and women across the globe who have served up to the highest level in aviation and to honour our own citizens who have served with distinction in the development and advancement of Aviation for decades,” the Honourable Henderson stated.

The challenges posed to the global aviation industry by the COVID-19 pandemic were also highlighted as an example of how resilient the industry must be in responding and adapting to various developments.

“At the onset of the pandemic, together we all helped to keep the world connected through the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) councils Aviation Recovery Task Force,” the Minister stated. “The task force provides practical and timely guidance to governments and industry for the restarting of the international air transport sector and recovery from the impact of the pandemic in a globally coordinated manner.”

Minister Henderson noted that the government is committed to ensuring safety in the aviation industry and urged people to join together to celebrate World Aviation Day 2022.
