The Cable’s Make a Wish for the Elderly 2023 brought cheers 100 times over

By: The Cable, Press Release

BASSETERRE ST KITTS 23 FEBRUARY, 2023: The dust may have settled on The Cable’s Make a Wish for the Elderly project for 2023, but the feelings of satisfaction are still lingering. Over one hundred senior citizens, who were nominated by a loved one or an organization, were presented with gifts on Valentine’s Day.

The Cable has been the proud corporate sponsor of this social outreach initiative for the last 5 years. “It was such a joy to interact with the recipients of this goodwill gesture and see how deeply appreciative they were of the gifts and the giver. As my first year coordinating this project, I am proud of the social impact that we are making in the communities that we serve,” reported Yarayni Morton, Marketing Manager at The Cable.

Several residents of the Cardin Home were included in the nominations this year. “We were happy to grant their requests for personal gifts which included items of clothing, shoes, a radio and other gifts that brought them cheer. This annual endeavour however is more than granting a wish but also acknowledging our senior citizens who were once our customers in the early years of this business,” admitted the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Patricia Walters.

Staff of The Cable received assistance in packing and distributing the gifts, from members of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga and the C.A.R.E. Foundation. There were recipients from nearly every community across the island who were touched by the care and compassion of this initiative. One senior citizen proclaimed how happy she was to see some of the staff whom she was fond of but had not seen for a long time as she was no longer active. “What a blessing to get something back from the company while seeing my favourite staff,” she said as she reminisced.

The Cable has confirmed that this was the largest number of recipients to benefit from the Make a Wish for the Elderly initiative. The company has expressed thanks to The C.A.R.E Foundation and Dreamy Décor for their valued contributions of care packages and roses respectively, and welcomed them as first time partners to the initiative. Along with the Rotary Club of Liamuiga they all assisted and contributed to the widely successful Make a Wish in 2023.
