Two die in separate incidents

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Federation has recorded two more homicides today (Apr. 4) in separate incidents on St. Kitts.

     

    According to the Police Force, at about 9:55 a.m. ranks responded to a report of a shooting incident in Soho Village, Basseterre, and upon arrival they met the lifeless body of 18-year-old Zion Huggins of the said Village.
     
    Based on preliminary investigations, Huggins was in his yard when a group of men approached and shot him while he was attempting to run away from them.

     

    He was pronounced dead at the scene by the District Medical Officer.

     

    The scene was processed by personnel from the Crime Scene Unit, who had collected items of evidential value.

     

    Meanwhile, another young man was reportedly stabbed and later succumbed to his injuries.

     

    According to a police statement, they received a report today at about 1:55 p.m. of a stabbing incident in Stapleton Village, which resulted from an altercation between two men.

     

    The stabbing victim was 30-year-old Shanquille Walters of Stapleton Village, who was transported in a private vehicle to the Joseph N France General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  
     
    One suspect is in currently custody assisting police with their investigation.

     

    The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has since condemned “these acts of violence and call upon citizens to assist the police to bring the perpetrators to justice.  

     

    Persons are asked to do so by providing anything information they might have on these or any other crime by calling the Violent Crimes Unit at 662-3468, and “any information you provide will be kept in strict confidence”.

     

    The shooting death of Zion Huggins and the stabbing death of Shanquille Walters have taken to nine, the number of homicides committed in the Federation for the year - eight on St. Kitts and one on Nevis.
