St. Paul’s FC eliminated from Caribbean Club Shield

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - DESPITE having home advantage, playing conditions at the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association Technical Center in St. Peter’s proved to be a bit too much for S.L. Horsford St. Paul’s United FC to handle.

The team suffered its second consecutive defeat Saturday (Aug.5 ), which led to its elimination from progressing to the next round of the CONCACAF Caribbean Club Shield tournament.

Playing before a capacity crowd, the team showed much improvement following its drubbing in the opening game.

The players had created five goal scoring opportunities early in the first half that went abegging until the 44th minute when Nicquan Phipps gave the home team the lead, sending the partisan crowd into frenzy.

In the second half, however, the team seemed to have lost its way with poor ball control and sloppy passes on a slow surface.

Those issues resulted in Jong Holland FC netting two goals in five minutes with Thom Derks finding the back of the net in the 53rd and Davidson Rosa in the 58th minute, giving their team a second win to enter the final group clash today with Metropolitan FA, which will see the victors progressing to the semi-finals.
