CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – LEGENDARY calypsonians Short Shirt of Antigua and St. Kitts-born Ellie Matt rolled back the years while entertaining patrons who attended the Nevis Housing and Land Development Corporation (NHLDC) 25th anniversary Show and Dance at Pinney’s Beach Hotel on Saturday, November 28.

Short Shirt, the 15-time calypso king of Antigua, wowed the crowd with some of his famous songs such as Tourist Leggo.

The crowd’s favorite almost earned him the Road March crown in Trinidad and Tobago in 1977. Short Shirt also performed Lucinda, Lamentation and Pledge, which were specially requested by the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP).

Legendary King Ellie Matt, who now resides in Florida, also gave an outstanding performance with his hit songs such as Annie Bamsiey and Makazema, which was requested repeatedly by his fans.

The Odisi Band provided the night’s music and models from Prestige Modelling Agency were also on show.

The 67-year-old Short Shirt, who still does live performances around the world, later said he was impressed with the Cherry Garden Housing Project and the country as a whole.

NHLDC General Manager Eustace Nisbett told SKNVibes that he was pleased with the turnout. He also reminded the public of the Corporation’s raffle which has at stake one of the houses in Cherry Gardens.
