Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago February 21, 2024 -- ALL-HANDS-ON-DECK is the central theme of the inaugural Trinidad and Tobago Disaster Risk Management Conference & Expo, scheduled for June 3-5, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad. This landmark event brings together partners and stakeholders to promote further integration, collaboration, and country-level implementation and to explore the barriers that impede the building of our resilience to hazards, ultimately reducing the impact on lives, livelihoods, businesses, and communities.

“Disaster risk management is not just about responding to emergencies; it’s about a heavy focus on proactive prevention, preparedness, and mitigation in building resilience,” emphasizes conference creator and industry specialist Stacey-Ann Pi Osoria. “This conference is a crucial platform for stakeholders across various sectors to unite, learn from each other, and chart a course towards a more disaster-ready Trinidad and Tobago.”

Diverse topics for discussion will encompass comprehensive disaster management policy and legislation, the role of executive leadership, HSSE, and facility management in emergency and incident management, the importance of addressing business continuity and cyber security, building resilient cities, and climate change adaptation. There will also be interactive learning labs and demonstrations on technological and product advances in the field, such as flood early warning systems, flood barriers, and mobile shelters.

Already, the conference has been endorsed by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM), the Tobago Emergency Management Association (TEMA), the Ministry of Rural Development & Local Government (MORDLG) and AMCHAM T&T. International sponsors include Deployed Logix, Presray, and Water & Earth Technologies.

The conference welcomes registrations from diverse participants, including emergency responders, the private sector, researchers and academics, NGOs and humanitarian organizations, and individuals interested in building disaster resilience.

Early bird registration will begin on March 1st, 2024, with special discounts available until March 31st, 2024. Visit the conference website at www.ttdrm.com for more information and to register.
