BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- With the aim of qualifying for the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship and subsequently the World Cup in Chile, the St. Kitts-Nevis Boys Under-20 team will kick into action this evening at the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) Technical Center.
The junior Sugar Boyz will face off against Puerto Rico at the St. Peter’s facility, where they have been training for the past several weeks. According to coach Alexis Morris, the players need the crowd to come out and show support for them.
"Playing at home is a tremendous feat, and playing in front of your home crowd will be an advantage," noted Morris.
The Sugar Boyz will need all the support they can get, especially when facing a strong Haitian unit. According to the qualifying setup, the Sugar Boyz must win the group to qualify for the CONCACAF Championship.
"The amount of time that we have spent training and on the pitch is phenomenal," noted Morris.
National player Jahmal Lewis called for everyone to come out and lend their support in the young team's quest for qualification.
Group E will play on the opening day, with Haiti facing off against the Cayman Islands in the early game before the Sugar Boyz swing into action at 7:00 p.m.
The Technical Center is hosting two groups, Group E (SKN, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Cayman Islands), and Group B (Bermuda, Grenada, Jamaica, Martinique).
