BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, February 26, 2024 (MMS-SKN) -- General Manager of the National Caribbean Insurance (NCI) Company Limited, Ms Diana Williams-Humphrey, is assuring citizens and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis, and Anguilla, that as the company celebrates its 50th anniversary, it is committed to the holistic development of the people.

“As National Caribbean Insurance Company Ltd celebrates 50 years of service to the people of St. Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla, we are delighted to do various activities throughout the anniversary to celebrate those 50 years,” said Ms Williams-Humphrey on Saturday February 24, at the end of the company’s 50th Anniversary Walk.

The walk which took the participants from the War Memorial through Bay Road, to Bird Rock Road, Pond Road, Cayon Street, and down Church Street to the NCI offices at the bottom of the street, was patronised by among others, the Governor General Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd, GCMG, JP.

“Today we were embarking on a health walk, because we believe in the holistic development of our people,” said the General Manager. “So at National Caribbean Insurance we serve, we protect, we satisfy, but we also believe that it is important for us to come together as a people.”

National Caribbean Insurance Company Limited is the leading provider of access to comprehensive health insurance in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, and Anguilla. The company has formed strategic partnerships with social partners and public initiatives such as SKN Moves, NGOs and private companies to promote and support active lifestyles, well care check-ups, and healthy lifestyle choices.

“We are also celebrating with the St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank, who is celebrating 53 years,” observed Ms Williams-Humphrey. “So, as one group, February is indeed a celebratory month for us - we dub it ‘Love Month’, and we are showing our love to ourselves, our people through this walk.”

National Caribbean Insurance, which is celebrating the anniversary under the theme ‘At 50 We Stand Tall - NCI Cares For All’, is part of the National Bank Group of Companies, and representing the St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank Limited on the health walk were members of the Board, Management, and Staff.

They included Chairperson of the Board, Mrs Carol Boddie, Secretary Mr Stephen Hector, members Mr Hollis Prentice, and Ms Azuree Liburd. Senior staff included, Mr David Lake, Group Commercial Head; Ms Giselle Solomon, HR officer in charge; Mrs Derry-Ann Reid-Browne, Chief Internal Auditor; Mr Quincy Prentice, Chief Information Officer; and Mr Anthony Morton, Executive Manager, Small Business Development.

In preparation of the event and during the walk itself, the General Manager was supported by senior staff, who included Deputy General Manager Mr Ryeburn Boyce, Assistant General Manager Ms Atisha Byron, and Chair of the 50th Anniversary Committee, Ms Thamesha Fyfield.

Board members taking part in the walk, led by Chairman Ambassador His Excellency Cedric Liburd included Deputy Chairperson Mrs Emelita Warner-Paul, Secretary Ms Julita Lawrence, Members Mrs Juliette James, and Mr Shannoid Bass.

“This morning, we had a really good crew walking with us,” she pointed out. “I would like to express my thanks - special thanks - to the Governor General, Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd. She came out and she walked with us, and she did not come alone, she brought an entire crew from Government House to join us in the walk, because we believe that it is a partnership we have at National Caribbean Insurance, with all who are involved.”

The General Manager also thanked the staff and their families who came out and took part in the walk. She said: “We saw the young, we saw the old, we saw the in-between on this walk with us, both from National Caribbean Insurance and National Bank, so thank you to everyone for coming out and making the walk a success.”

Official start time for the walk was 6:00 a.m., but a brief shower that characterised the morning did not stop the enthusiastic members of staff and their families arriving at the War Memorial some even more than half an hour earlier. They sat in their cars waiting for the showers of rain to pass.

At about 6:05 a.m., member of the 50th Anniversary Committee, Senior Manager Administration Ms Eugenia Petty, assisted by Ms Sandra Swanston, and Mr Floyd Charles, called the assembly to order, and persons left their cars and assembled on the steps of the War Memorial. Deputy Chairperson of the NCI Board of Directors, Mrs Emelita Warner Paul, offered prayers for the safety of everyone during the walk. They set off at 6:13 a.m.

At the end of the walk they assembled at the bottom of Church Street, outside the National Caribbean Insurance offices, where the walk participants who looked jovial despite the walk, were treated to refreshments.
