“Think Pink and say I CARE” was the theme chosen by Petra Vonder Newton, Manager of Nu Nails during October 2009. Petra, known in the calypso arena, as Princess P, is more than just a great female Calypsonian. She is a licensed professional Nail Technician operating in the USVI.
The month of October was celebrated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Petra chose to associate with Reach for Recovery SKB, the lone cancer support group on St. Kitts. Members of the group encouraged everyone to “just do something” to commemorate the month.
Ms Newton returned home to St. Kitts for a short stay during October to offer a relaxing Spa Pedicure Treatment to her local clients. Petra caters to male as well as female clients. The Spa Pedicure from Nu Nails came with a Paraffin Wax Treatment and a Reflexology Foot massage all at the same price as a regular pedicure. Her main goal was to show she cared for her Breast Friends and to donate part proceeds from that drive to the Cancer Support Group.
Petra now says thanks to all who participated in the Nu Nails/Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer Drive held in October 2009. ‘With your help I was able to donate $300 to the cause” confirmed the proud Technician.
In responding to Petra’s initiative, Ms Agnes Farrell President of Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer Group confirmed that this is nothing new for Petra. Petra has a big Pink Heart and last year donated a substantial amount to the group. Members and supporters say a heartfelt thank you to Petra and Nu Nails and wish her the very best and continued success as she takes Nails to a whole Nu level in St. Kitts, the USVI and beyond.
