Government probing discovery of rubber dinghy in Keys Bay

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- Police confirmed this afternoon (Mar. 11) that an investigation is underway regarding the discovery of an abandoned rubber dinghy at Keys Bay.

In its media statement, the police force indicated that the Ministry of National Security in the Government of St. Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis is investigating the circumstances surrounding the rubber dinghy that came ashore at Keys Bay, St. Kitts, on March 9th, 2024. The St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Coast Guard (SKNDF-CG) alerted authorities to suspicious activity in the area, prompting officers from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) and the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Infantry (SKNDF-I) to respond to the scene.

Upon arrival, law enforcement agencies found the vessel empty, with several personal items inside, suggesting it had previously been occupied by multiple individuals.

"It is currently unknown if the dinghy came ashore with said persons on board. The Ministry of National Security and the RSCNPF are seeking assistance from the general public. If anyone observes any strange or suspicious persons in their community, kindly contact the nearest Police station immediately," the statement urged.
