CHARLESTOWN, Nevis, December 11, 2009 (Guyanese Association Nevis Chapter) - The Guyanese Association of Nevis has a new Board of Directors. The new Board was elected at the association’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, December 2 at the Red Cross Building in Charlestown, and installed at a special meeting two days later.
The Directors elected are Eton Sertima, Donovan Matthews, Yolanda Lowe, Alvin Fraser, Noel Dalton and Veronica Simon. The Board later chose Sertima as Chairman, Matthews as Deputy Chairman, Lowe as Secretary-Treasurer and Fraser as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer.
Sertima, Matthews and Simon are the new faces on the Board. They replaced past Chairman Reuben Vyphuis, Deputy Chairman Shevonne Lowe and Eric Singh who were not up for re-election at the AGM.
The new Board is scheduled to hold its first meeting on Friday, December 11, 2009.
The Association, established in 2005, is a non-profit, non political, secular organisation dedicated to the cultural, moral, spiritual and educational enhancement of its members. It recently awarded the top students of Guyanese parentage at this year’s CSEC, and earlier donated US$1 000 towards the purchase of equipment at the Alexandre Hospital in Charlestown.
