The St Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (SKNOC) announced today that 400 meter specialist Tiandra Ponteen will not be participating in the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games which run from March 15th to 26th.
Tiandra is overcoming an illness that has prevented her from training for the past several weeks.
Tiandra was expected to carry the Federation's flag in the March Pass and the Opening Ceremony, replacing sprint king Kim Collins who was side-lined from the Commonwealth Games due to a lingering groin injury.
Tiandra will now be replaced by Enoete Larry Inanga, a DePaul University Graduate who runs the 200 and 400 meters. Mr. Inanga departs St. Kitts tomorrow Friday 17th March along with the Secretary General of the SKNOC, Glenville Jeffers.
The other participating athlete is Tanika Liburd whose specialty is the long jump.
