KINGSTON, Jamaica – THE ‘So Special’ singer Mavado crashed yesterday (Apr. 4) while driving his motorcycle in the Manor Park area of Kingston and was hospitalised sometime after 5:00 p.m.
According to 876radio, Mavado was admitted at the Medical Associates facility for some minor cuts and bruises. Doctors also did several X-rays which showed everything was normal.
It is said that he was trying to avoid hitting a female driver who decided to turn onto her driveway, cutting across in his lane.
The singer’s manger, Julian Jones-Griffiths said, "Mavado did what he could to take evasive action but could not avoid the collision with the oncoming car. He left the hospital a little sore around 8:45 p.m. Sunday night to return home and get some rest. Mavado will be a little sore for a couple of days but it could have been a lot worse.”
This has been Mavado’s second accident where he escaped with minor cuts and bruises. Sometime last year, Movado, who was born David Constantine Brooks, and his manager escaped a similar incident while travelling in a motor car.
Mavado is known for hits such as ‘Never Believe You’, ‘Last Night’, ‘Dreaming’ and his recent collaboration ‘Hold On’, which was done with Wycleff Jean as a tribute to the people of Haiti after the southern part of that country was devastated by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake on January 12, 2010.
