CALL FOR NEWS STORIES ON CHILDREN !
Once again this year UNICEF Office For Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean will be offering two prizes during the Annual PAHO Media Award and journalists are being urged to submit relevant entries published between June 1 2005 and May 31 2006. Entries should be submitted to the PAHO Office or to the UNICEF Barbados Office no later than 07 July 2006
The Awards are as follows:
Children's Rights Award
An award of $US 1000 will be given for the best print, broadcast news or feature story which critically examines how children's rights, as described under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child are being or not being met, in the Caribbean as a whole or in any individual country or group of countries.
Award for News or feature story on abuse
An award of US $1000 will be given for the best print or broadcast news or feature story that seeks to create awareness of, or addresses the issue of abuse or violence against children (physical, verbal, sexual abuse or neglect) by a media house or a journalist . The story can focus on the magnitude of the issue, or actions being taken to address and or the impact of actions or lack thereof on children.
