    Ms Idetha "Titta" Lawrence
The Culturama Secretariat in collaboration with the Department of Culture is pleased to announce that Ms Idetha "Titta" Lawrence of Cotton Ground has been selected as the patron for the 32nd annual Culturama Festival.
Ms Lawrence has been a participant in Culturama since its inception in 1974. Titta, as she is also affectionately known has participated in the Culturama Cultural Street parade up until 2004 with 2005 being the only year she did not participate because of family reasons.

Ms Lawrence danced in troupes such as "African girls", "Look the Devil Dey", "Culture girls coming from Cotton Ground" and the "Cultural Yankee Girls".

This year's patron has also organised Kiddies troupes and would have also chaperoned queen contestants over the years.

Ms Lawrence said her participation in Culturama over the years was due to her love for music and also for the fun of it as she likes to dance. She thanks her mother (now deceased) who encouraged her over the years.

Ms Lawrence is happy to be recognised but notes that she could not have done it alone she thanks persons such as Pamella Broadbelt, Jessica Broadbelt Scarborough, Vanessa Pemberton, Letta Seabrooks, Chesley Pharoh Davis and Nelson Jeffers all of whom played in the troupe with her.

Titta says that there has been a steady improvement of the festival over the years since 1974 with more troupes, more fun and finds it very educational.

It is indeed with much pleasure that the 2006 Culturama Committee recognise and celebrate the contribution of Ms Idetha Lawrence for her contributions to Culturama in Nevis over the years.

In 1998 the Culturama Secretariat introduced the idea of having patrons for the festival as a means of honouring persons who have immensely contributed to the annual summer festival.  Ms Lawrence joins an elite group of persons who include David Freeman, Daryl Dore and Annie Mills.
