KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent - SKINNY FABULOUS has once again taken the St. Vincent Carnival (Vincy Mas) by storm as he was crowned the Soca Monarch for the third consecutive year
Skinny Fabulous retained his crown singing ‘Charge Up’ at the event, which was held at Victory Park on Saturday, July 3, 2010.
In second place was Delroy ‘Fire Man’ Hooper with ‘Soca Battlefield’ while Raeon ‘Maddzart’ Primus, singing ‘The King Road’, was awarded third place and Shertz 'Problem Child' James sang his way into fourth position with ‘Delinquent’.
According to reports coming out of St. Vincent, both Skinny Fabulous and Fire Man were favoured to win from among the 18 contenders who vied for the title.
Although Fire Man lost to the defending champion, last week he took the Raga Soca Monarch crown. Meanwhile, it is left to be seen if the two of them would take the Road March title on Tuesday.
In other Vincy Mas news, last night (Jul. 4) the Calypso Monarch show, also known as (Dimanche Gras Show), was held at Victory Park and the 2009 winner, Joy C, took the title once again, beating out 10 other competitors.
The 2010 St. Vincent Carnival will end tomorrow with Mardi Gras.
