BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – KENNEDY POWELL, also known as Kennedy Isles, of the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis was recently flown from St. Maarten to face gun-related charges in his homeland.

According to information released by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the authorities were in search of Powell following a July 24, 2010 incident during which a gun was found and taken into police custody.

While details surrounding the incident are sketchy, SKNVibes understands that the incident is said to have taken place on or near the Newtown Playing Field.

The police have indicated that they were in communication with the authorities in St. Maarten, from whom they received invaluable cooperation in having the accused returned for prosecution.

Powell, SKNVibes understands, was returned to the Federation on Thursday last (Sept. 23) and was formally arrested and charged with illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

He was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison and is expected to make an appearance before the court shortly.

The High Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force wishes to extend gratitude to the authorities in St. Maarten for their assistance in this matter.
