Basseterre (June 2006) - "Passport to Success" is a training program currently being rolled out at the Resort. This program has been developed by Marriott International in an effort to provide all associates with a means of enhancing their knowledge and skills in their present job.

It is also designed to assist in career development, prepare associates for future challenges, and to provide advanced opportunities for personal and professional growth. The content of the "Passport to Success" program is the result of intensive research and has been crafted with input from many leading managers and experts worldwide.

A key component of this new program is the Associate Development Plan which will be created in conjunction with each department manager and the Human Resources Department. This document's purpose is to outline the training path which will ensure excellence in their current position, and could lead to future positions based on the associate's personal and professional goals.

To assist with guidance during this program the associate's manager will provide the associate with their own Passport booklet.

The program is outlined in stages with the first stage or Level 1 covering the fundamentals of Hospitality and Service, emphasizing the importance of the standards and principles that comprise the heart of the Marriott culture. With this as the foundation the curriculum continues with basic understanding of the associates current position to comprehensive lessons "Level II and up" which will enable associates to master their chosen profession.

Each Department Head has been provided with a list of supporting materials, along with additional references to further enhance associate knowledge and skills which can be applied to the associate's career development. After each successful level completion the associates Passport booklet will be stamped with a gold seal, and they would be presented with a Certificate of Accomplishment.

~~Adz:Right~~"This exciting programme will assist us in our continued efforts to develop our associates not only in the technical side of their roles but will also prepare our local talent for supervisory and management roles which is our ultimate goal.  We are excited about the possibilities that this programme brings," says Kathy Kaesmacher, Director of Human Resources.
