North Sound, Antigua January 12 2011 – Alcindo Holder’s composed unbeaten 44 marshalled Barbados home to a four wicket win over home team Leeward Islands in a low scoring affair on Day Two of the Caribbean Twenty20 at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Grounds.

Holder in the company of Ashley Nurse (19 not out) took the Bajans to 116 for 6 with a seventh wicket stand of 46 after they faltered to 70 for six and were in danger of slipping further.

Barbados had restricted Leewards to 112 for 6 from 20 overs with Javon Searles capturing 2 wickets for 14 runs and captain Ryan Hinds taking another 2 for 18.

Justin Athanaze topped the batting table with 34 from 25 balls, inclusive of four boundaries and the lone six of the innings. Tonito Willett supported with 31 from 29 balls, an innings which contained three fours.

Barbados were rocked by a double run out and a Gavin Tonge (3.2-0-20-2) double strike to be stuttering badly at 23 for 4 and in danger of mirroring the Guyana collapse for 65 as they chased a similarly low total against Jamaica the night before.

Holder – who faced 45 balls and struck three fours and a six – played with a cool head and took his side home, gaining an able ally in Nurse.

Summarized scores: Leewards 112 for six from 20 overs: Justin Athanaze Thirty-four; Tonito Willet 31 not out

Jevon Searles 2 for fourteen Ryan Hinds 2 for 18
