By: Curtis Morton, Press Release

CHARLESTOWN Nevis, January 14 2011 - Experienced Kittitian and Leeward Islands former cricketer Victor Eddy made an impassioned plea via Choice Radio’s Sports rap on Thursday morning.  His message was clear:  Return Ronald Powell as cricket chief on Nevis because he has performed..

At the AGM held last evening at the Nevis Cooperative Credit Union’s conference room, the fair sized gathering duly obliged by returning the former Nevis and Leeward Islands allrounder as President of the Nevis Cricket Association-unopposed.

In his acceptance speech towards the end of the meeting, Powell thanked the gathering for demonstrating their faith in him and congratulated the members of his executive which has a few new comers on board.  He urged all to work as a team and hinted that the focus for this year will be on the development of the youths but that adequate attention will also be paid to the further development of the Nevis senior team with the intention for that team to get back to the winning ways of former years.

Prior to Powell’s address, the gathering listened to the Presidents’ report; the Treasurer’s report and a comprehensive report from senior team Manager, Malcolm Ramsey who spoke to his tenure before his untimely resignation last year.

The President in his report referred to 2011 as a rewarding year as he indicated that all of the leagues hosted by his Association were properly concluded, complete with closing ceremonies.  He congratulated the various winning teams of the year and was also high in praise for the Nevis senior team for their victory in the inaugural Leeward islands T-20 series..

The Treasurer for his part referred to the past year as a tough one for the Association.

The cost of travel for the senior team had been especially costly and despite the contributions. of several sponsors, the  Association was starting the new year,  with over one thousand dollars in the red..  He however thanked all of the sponsors and contributors who had assisted in 2010.

The main feature for the evening was the election of officers to serve for this year,
