KINGSTON, Jamaica– JAMAICAN dancehall extraordinaire Vybz Kartel has taken the term ‘bleaching’ to another level and almost appears to be ‘white’ when compared with his natural complexion.

In the distant past, many individuals would not admit to the bleaching of their skin as it was seen as a shameful act to many, but the singer is outspoken and proud to be changing the natural colour of his skin.

In fact, Kartel has done a number of songs pertaining to him ‘bleaching out’ his skin. Such songs include ‘Cake Soap’ and his recently released single ‘Gal Love Off Mi Bleach Out Face’.

Many people are also now referring to Kartel as Mr. Cake Soap. Cake soap is a detergent soap that contains bleach.

Recently, Vybz Kartel even went as far as having a blue cake soap cake to celebrate his 35th birthday. He also released his own bleaching cake soap late last year and was heard in an interview saying that the soap gets rid of acne and pimples and to keeps the skin cool.

About two years ago there was a facial cream that the Jamaicans referred to as the ‘Michael Jackson Cream’, which was being used by individuals to ‘bleach out’ their skin; but Vybz Kartel has now turned the cake soap into a popular product and his facial features are today among debating topics.

Kartel, who heads the Portmore Empire, is one of Jamaica’s best and most controversial artistes.
