BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A message has been circulating via Blackberry Messenger warning women to be extremely careful at nights because a rapist is on the loose in St. Kitts.
The message also went on to state that this is no joke and it is a serious matter.
Because of the perceived seriousness of the matter and its widespread dissemination, SKNVibes decided to contact the authorities.
Speaking with Commissioner of Police Austin Williams on Friday, January 21, he told this media house that he was unaware of anyone making a report to the police on the matter. He however promised to raise the alleged issue with his senior officers at a nine o’clock meeting.
SKNVibes also spoke with the Public Relations Officer, Inspector Vaughan Henderson, who said he too was unaware of any such reports and that there has not been any report of rape made by anyone to his knowledge.
However, whether this is just a rumour or not, women are asked to take precautions and this media house will continue its investigations and provide a follow up on this story.
