Three injured in traffic accident

By: Rawle Nelson, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THREE persons are nursing injuries at the JNF General Hospital after being involved in a two-vehicle accident on the Island Main Road in the vicinity of Godwin Ghaut earlier tonight (Jan. 25).

The accident which involved two passenger busses has resulted in extensive damage to one, Mr. Wab HA 19, while the other, Rolling Deep H1231, had minor damage.

Bernard Huggins was the driver of Rolling Deep while Mario Powell was driving Mr. Wab.

When SKNVibes got to the scene a large crowd of curious onlookers had gathered, and one eyewitness she said that Rolling Deep was travelling from Sandy Point to Basseterre and Mr. Wab was going in the opposite direction.

She stated that a pickup was parked on the seaward side of the road and while Powell was about to pass it “he just pull brakes and hit Rolling Deep and turn over”.

The collision resulted in Mr. Wab ending up on its side while Rolling Deep came to a halt some yards away.

Many persons expressed relief that they were no fatalities.

Quick response by public spirited citizens and the EMS resulted in those injured being rushed to the hospital.

The eyewitness related that they were about four or five passengers in Rolling Deep and none of them were seriously injured, but “the people who really get the impact and the injuries were in Mr. Wab”.

Attempts by this media house to solicit a comment from Huggins proved futile.
