    BASSETERRE St.Kitts, January 31st 2011 - The England Lions, the second string English team which is currently in the Caribbean to participate in the WICB four day regional tournament, got the better of the St.Kitts-Nevis team in matches played at the Edgar Gilbert Playing field in Molineaux, St.Kitts.

    In match one which was played on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th January, the English team won the toss and batted first.  They were off to a slow but steady start with Adam Lyth opening up with an array of shots which included three pull shots for sixes off the bowling of Ian Byron. His partner, Jimmy Adams remained more sedate during the partnership.

    The England Lions eventually folded for 277.

    Shockingly, the local team did not impress the few spectators who showed up to watch the game.  They were skittled out for a meagre 89 runs.  The first wicket fell at 22 when Shane Jeffers was caught for 10 and then a steady procession followed.

    The tourists decided to bat again to get well needed time in the middle and were comfortably placed on 175 for 2 when the game was called off.

    Summarized scores:  England Lions: 277 all out: Andrew Gale 53; Adam Lyth 45; James Hildreth; 41;

    Tonito Willet 3 for 60; Ian Byron 2 for 66; Steve Liburd 2 for 46;
    Calvin Williams; Jason Campbell and Kieron Powell—all got 1 wicket each.
    SKN Team 89 all out: Kieron Powell 34

    England Lions- 175 for 2: Adam Lyth 72 not out; Ravi Bopara 57; James Adams 32
    Match drawn

    Disappointingly a few of the cricketers stated their unavailability to play in the second match, late on Saturday afternoon, leaving the selectors scrambling to get replacements.

    Match two –day one: SKN team 135 all out: Steve Liburd 26;
    Danny Briggs picked up 7 wickets for 38 runs

    England Lions- 83 for 2: Jimmy Adams 31 and James Taylor 39 not out
