SKNIS Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, March 03 2011 (SKNIS) - Among the more gratifying activities of the Social Development Division of the Ministry of Community Affairs and Social Development is the very important role of reassuring the elderly that they are still appreciated.

Isaac Lewis of Halfway Tree was the most recent recipient of a birthday visit last week when he attained yet another year in his ninth decade.  Constituency Representative for the area Honourable Glenn Phillip, along with the new Supervisor for Social Development Mrs. Denise Byron-Morris, and Social Assistance Officer Larissa Riley were on hand to congratulate Mr. Lewis.

Minister Phillip enthused that Mr. Lewis’ 93rd birthday was significant because it spoke to the positive impact that he had on the community.

Mr. Lewis responded graciously by first thanking God for sparing his life and then thanked the Ministry for the work that it is doing.  He noted that he has been around from the time of the First National Hero, the late Right Excellent Robert L. Bradshaw and it was wonderful to be around today.  God blessings were asked on all those present.

Social Assistance Officer Larissa Riley assured that visits to the elderly will continue on a regular basis.
