CHARLESTOWN Nevis, March 16th 2011 - Last Wednesday, March 9, 2010 marks to first ever Pinneys Beach Hotel/Digicel Karaoke Competition on Nevis.
At steak were the following prizes:
First price: One GT-S3370L Touch Screen Samsung cell phone compliments Digicel.
Second Price: Dinner for two at the Pinneys Beach Ocean Bistro Restaurant.
Third Price: Lunch for two at the Pinneys Beach Ocean Bistro Restaurant.
There were seven competitors including a duet who were two youngsters in the persons of Sidondre Flemming and Erleon David (cousins; ages 6 & 9). Other competitors were Irvincia Warner, Vallencia Hanley, Makeshia S. Flemming, Jermaine Pemberton, Lenny Claxton & Deniese Johnson.
The competition was of a very high standard and all participants displayed some fabulous performances.
At the end of it all the judges determined the following winners:
1. Overall winner of the competition – Mr. Lenny Claxton
2. First Runner-up - Mr. Jermaine Pemberton and
3. Second Runner-up – Ms. Makeshia S. Flemming
There was a fairly large crowd on hand to witness the ‘showdown’ and some lucky members of the audience had the opportunity to win a number of fantastic door prizes including phone card credits and another GT-S3370L Touch Screen Samsung cell phone compliments Digicel.
The competition was MC-d by Mr. Gavin Patterson better known as ‘Trini’ and he too did a fantastic job.
The audience was graced with the presence and also had the privilege of being entertained by an international artiste, one Mr. Roger Kassiano Smith who happened to be staying at the hotel during the Karaoke event. Kassiano is Jamaican by birth, lives in Mexico and is a huge entertainer in Jamaica and all over Mexico. He has performed on stage with well known singers such Paul Anka, Julio Iglesias, Gregory Isaacs, Shaba Ranks, and the like.
The evening climaxed with the floor being opened to members of the audience who wanted to ‘KARE-THEIR-OWN-KEY’ (Karaoke).
