CHARLESTOWN Nevis, March 21st 2011 - Despite all of the concerns about the readiness of the new Brown Hill Recreation grounds, the Ivor Walters Primary School annual sports day went off without a hitch with the athletes enjoying the newly laid track.
A huge crowd was in attendance as the athletes marched impressively around the field to mark the start of the event. Taking the salute was one of Brown Hill’s favourite son and former outstanding athlete at the school, Mr. Cardin Powell.
The athletes competed in the 400; 200; 800 and 100 meters events. Then there were the fun races which served to excite the crowd and a fitting climax with the much anticipated relays.
Competition was stiff as the athletes gave it their all and the final scores are a reflection of that fact:
Green house champions-- 332 points
Gold house—second—305 points
Red house third –263 points
