A Cayon-born chef at the prestigious St. Kitts Marriott Resort is headed for the 737 room hotel Marco Island Marriott Resort, Golf Club and Spa located in Marco Island Florida to sharpen his skills as a Lead Cook over the next 12 months.
Twenty-two year old Omar Dore has been awarded a J1 Visa from Marriott International and through this programme has the opportunity to participate in practical training at the Marriott resort, located 100 miles away from Miami.
The programme structure includes a variety of training opportunities ranging from Front Office to Food and Beverage. Candidates can receive first-hand, real life managerial, supervisory or specialty occupation knowledge and experience, plus learn Marriott's standards of hotel operations.

Kitts Marriott Resort for all the support and guidance," said Omar Dore in a statement issued by the local resort.
Omar started his tenure at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & the Royal Beach Casino as a Cook in the La Cucina Restaurant in January 2003. Due to his exemplary performance and willingness to learn he was promoted to Lead Cook in February 2004.
Omar was also the recipient of the Associate of the Month award in August
2003 proof of his everlasting drive and commitment in his area of culinary expertise.

The J1 Visa Program was introduced with associates participating from Marriott's over 2600 properties worldwide, all vying for the opportunity to be a part of this programme, which reaches up to 100 visas a year. So far this year there are 14 active participants out of 222,000 worldwide total associates with Marriott Corporation.
