(Basseterre, St. Kitts) There have been no arrests in the Venroy "Paulie" Hazel murder that occurred on Monday July, 24 at around 4 a.m.
Hazel was gunned down and found hanging on the hospital grounds from a clothes line.
A Police official of The Royal St. Kitts Police Force told SKNVibes.com that three persons were held in custody for questioning of the murder.
They were Dena White of Buckley's Site, Denzil "Para" Williams and Leon "Lebo" Williams both of Market Street.
Police also said that Bernard Berry of Cardin Avenue is an interest to them. He has not been seen since the day of the shooting and Police are looking for him.
Hazel and his girlfriend Maritza Hyliger were walking through the back of the hospital on that fatal Monday morning when shots were fired at them.
They were on their way home from the Enywayda Club in the Buckelys area when they realized that a masked man who was later joined by another fired shots after them. Hazel told his girlfriend to run in a different direction while he ran through the grounds of the old hospital.
He was chased and gunned down by the two men and was found by his mother Magdalene Hazel after his girlfriend ran to her home and told her what happened.
Hazel's mother stated in the Friday July, 28, 2006 issue of The St. Kitts-Nevis Observer Newspaper that Venroy was another son "they took from her. She told the newspaper about three years ago her younger son Patrice "Lollipop" Hazel had gotten into an altercation with another young man and was stabbed in the back.
The wounding from the stab paralyzed him and shortly after he died. Magdalene also told the newspaper that she had brought up her children to be good people and could not understand why such violence was happening to them.
Now she is mourning the death of yet another son. The very same 23-year-old son who had told her just a few days before he lost his life, that he wanted to live a good life.
His mother stated that he was shot in the chest on Monday July, 17 and because of that incident he decided to live a different life.
Police are still seeking the public assistance in the investigations of the crime and are asking anyone with relevant information to contact the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at 465-2241 ext. 236.
