Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, March 24th 2011 - The Ministry of Health, Social Services, Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs was once again the recipient of some specially made cushions designed by local businessman, Mr. Don Dnago Farrell, Manager of Farrell’s Canvas, Upholstery and Depot, located at New Road Commercial Lot, St Peter’s.

The specially designed cushions were officially handed over to the Honorable Minister of Health and Social Services Ms Marcella Liburd, who was supported by Mr. Clifford Griffin, Administrative Officer in the Ministry of Health.  During the ceremony, Mr. Farrell explained that the cushions were designed to afford more comfort to physically challenged individuals who utilise wheelchairs and/or other modes of transportation.

The Honorable Minister having accepted the donations, lauded Mr. Farrell’s gesture and indicated the Ministry’s intention to distribute the cushions to persons in need of such assistance.  She assured Mr. Farrell of the appreciation of beneficiaries of the initiative, which she encouraged other businesses to emulate.

Accordingly, she solicited similar cooperation from other organisations like Canvas Upholstery and Depot to make their contribution to enable enhancement of the quality of life to physically challenged individuals in our communities. The Minster concluded by assuring Mr. Farrell that the cushions will be put to good use by the individuals to whom they would be distributed
