CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – A 59-year-old Trinidadian died suddenly this morning (Mar. 29) while working at the Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority’s (NSWMA) dump site in Long Point.

According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Vaughan Henderson, at about 11:00 a.m. today, officers at the Charlestown Police Station received a report that an employee of the NSWMA had died suddenly while working at the dump site.

“The officers responded immediately and investigations revealed that Herbert George, originally from Trinidad but who was residing at Jessups Village, had died suddenly. The District Medical Officer was summoned to the scene and pronounced him dead.

“The Coroner was contacted and permission was given for the deceased to be taken to a funeral home under police escort,” Henderson said.

He also informed that the District Medical Officer conducted a preliminary examination and declared that there were no visible signs of foul play.

Inspector Henderson further informed that the Resident Pathologist on Nevis would perform an autopsy on George’s body as soon as possible, and “investigations are ongoing”.
