Mention’s purple and black ‘Earthday Bash’ this Saturday

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, April 1st 2011 – AGE is just a number. That is exactly the mindset Gregory ‘Mention’ Hobson is putting forward as he decided to keep his age a secret but will celebrate his birthday in style with fans this Saturday (Apr. 2) at Club Kactus.

The event, in its third staging, is dubbed a ‘Purple and Black Affair’ and, according to the Nu Vibes Band’s lead singer, he has decided to go with the same colour scheme the band used during the carnival season for their parade troupe. Hobson said another reason is because he has never had a colour-coded event and thinks that purple is very popular.

Mention’s ‘Earthday Bash’ will give patrons the opportunity to jump and wave to the Odisi Band out of Nevis and the Nu Vybes Band, while Mixklusiv Sound, DJ Yardy, Sweet Sister Sensia and TNO Sound will mix a variety of music to keep the night in full swing.

The party will also be alive with performances by Nicha B, Infamus, Silk, Footsy and soca sensation Shakki. The excitement will continue with a number of give-a-ways throughout the night including a cell phone, gift baskets, phone cards and dinner at Fisherman’s Wharf.

There will also be a special surprise guest artiste who will make a debut performance.

Patrons can purchase tickets at Bevon’s outlet; however, there will be free tickets up for grabs with radio personality Sweet Sister Sensia.

Hobson took the opportunity to thank all the sponsors and to invite his fans to his birthday event.

“I want to encourage everyone to come out on Saturday and party with me and just have a good time,” he said.

Apart from celebrating his birthday this week-end, the Nu Vybes Band front man said he is working on three tracks - ‘Love Boat’, which will drop in April, followed by ‘Electric City’ and ‘Wining Tournament’ that would be released in early June just in time for the St. Kitts Music Festival.

Hobson declared that plans are on the front burner to do two combination tracks for St. Thomas’ Carnival; one with the island’s UNB Soldiers Band and the other with the band’s former lead singer Dennis De Menace.
