Bunji Garlin gone from dreadlocks to baldhead

Bunji Garlin after he cut his dreadlocks
By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, April 1st 2011 – NEWS has been spreading like wildfire across the internet and via BlackBerry Messenger that popular soca artiste Bunji Garlin had cut his dreadlocks on Monday (March 28).

The news came as a shocker to many fans as the ‘Blaze It Up’ singer has had his lengthy dreadlocks for over 10 years.

Many females have commented on various websites stating that the singer looks even more handsome with his low cut and also much younger, while some said they preferred the sexy rastaman.

Bunji Garlin, whose given name is Ian Alverez, is the husband of soca sensation Fay-Ann Lyons-Alvarez. Alverez told the Trinidad Express that he decided to cut his locks because he wanted a change.

SKNVibes tried to contact his manager for a comment but was unsuccessful in its attempts.

According to overtimett.com, the singer said he had been thinking about cutting his hair a lot over the last week and finally decided to just go and do it.

"When your hair gets to be a certain length it can become a problem, because it's uncomfortable to sleep with it and you always have to sacrifice a lot of time to keep it neat and maintain it," he went on to say.

Bunji Garlin and his wife performed in St. Kitts last year at the staging of the 14 annual St. Kitts Music Festival.

They were also contenders in the recently held Trinidad International Soca Monarch competition, where he placed third singing ‘Hold A Burn’ and she came in behind him with ‘Consider It Done’.
