CHARLESTOWN Nevis, April 4th 2011 - Following hot on the heels of the grassroots cricket program launched exactly one week prior, last Friday saw the launch of the Scotia Bank sponsored Kiddies cricket program.  The launch was effectively conducted for the Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis and saw at least one school from St.Kitts represented.

The program was chaired by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Mr. Alsted Pemberton. The invocation was delivered by James Ward and the young children present rendered the National anthem quite lustily.

President of the Nevis Cricket Association Ronald Powell gave an overview of the program and had high commendations for Scotia Bank, the main sponsors of the program.

Mrs. Janet Maloney, Education Officer represented the Education Department and admonished the children to make the best of all such opportunities to learn and excel.

Mr. Charles Morton, Manager of Scotia Bank Nevis held an interactive session with the children present and spoke to his bank’s commitment to Community development.

Minister of Sports, Hon Hensley Daniel, singled out some of the Coaches present as role models for the children He beseeched them to spend some time on developing mental toughness among the children and singled out Sir Vivian Richards as a prime example of a cricketer who was mentally tough.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Chairman Alsted Pemberton.
