Hundreds gathered at the Party’s Headquarters on Sunday April 03 to attend the PAM 46th Annual Convention
BASSETERRE St.Kitts (April 5th 2011) - Under the Theme “Restoring Trust and Fiscal Responsibility” the People’s Action Movement held its 46th Annual Convention on April 3, the Party’s Headquarters. The convention saw several reports from the recently held Caucus, Ratifications of the recently held elections, Presentation from the parliamentarians and from our future leaders.
The audience comprised of a wide cross section of the community including of members of the Diplomatic Corps, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Press and the rank and file of the party. Those present were stunned by the various presentations.
The focus for this year’s convention was on the youths and consequently sterling presentations on key issues affecting the economic development of the Federation were made by seven young persons including Lawyer Deneice Alleyne who spoke to our country’s Land Use Policy, CFB Students Kevaughn Browne and Ackeem Alexander who spoke on St.Kitts-Nevis Relations and Tourism respectively while former Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Cheraina Warner spoke on Education. Young Pamites General Secretary Latoya Bussue presented on Agriculture and 2005 runner-up State Scholar Terrelah Byron spoke to the serious problem of Crime. Lawyer Jonel Powell ended the youth presentations with a spirited speech on Governance.
Our charismatic and dynamic leader Lindsay Grant was at his best and had the audience captivated with his address that had a mix of current issues and the way forward for the party. Parliamentarians, the Hon Shawn Richards and Eugene Hamilton as well as Senator Vincent Byron Jr. reported on their stewardship to date and sensitized the crowd on some parliamentary concerns.
The general feedback from the Convention is that the party is stronger than ever and is fully prepared to deal with any challenge that will be confronted in the near future.
