SKABA League to officially open Sunday with exciting games

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, 12th April 2011 – THE long-awaited and exciting St. Kitts Amateur Basketball Association (SKABA) League is scheduled to begin with an official ceremony at Basketball City at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 17.

     


    Following the traditional opening ceremony, which will see an impressive march past of teams from the Premiere, A, Female and Junior Division brightly adorned in uniforms, there will be an exciting entertainment session.

     


    According to newly-elected SKABA President Kenroy Tobias, there will be a Knockout tournament after the march past.

     


    The first eight Premier or A Division teams present at the march past with 10 or more members will be eligible to participate.

     


    Each game will last for 10 minutes and the champion team will receive the Knockout prize of EC$1 500.

     


    There will also be an All-Star game between St. Kitts and Nevis that is expected to showcase the Federation’s top players. This game will be preceded by a fashion show that will feature models of S Model Management.

     


    According to the SKABA’s President, this league has seen an increase in the number of teams registered for the 2011 season when compared with the past few years.

     


    Over 30 teams have registered for the new league with an increase of four in the ‘A’ Division compared with last season’s 11, two in the Female Division and one in Junior Division.

     


    This season will also see two teams from Nevis - newcomers PJ’s of Gingerland and last year’s finalists Cotton Ground Rebels.
