Mr. Joseph O'Flaherty (r) presents the de-humidifiers to Mrs. Victoria O'Flaherty

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, AUGUST 27TH 2006  - A son of the late Joseph Fidel O'Flaherty has donated a gift to the National Archives.

The young returning national, Mr. Joseph O'Flaherty, donated two de-humidifiers, which will control the humidity in the two vaults at Government Headquarters. This is a step towards the better preservation of the records held in there.

O'Flaherty was recently shown the collection by the archives staff and was impressed by the amount of records that have survived and the information to be found in them.

He also recognised that the atmosphere in the vaults was a threat to the records and offered to assist by donating a de-humidifier for each vault.

The Director of Archives, Mrs. Victoria O'Flaherty, saw this as a way of ensuring the survival of the records as they await the building of their new home.

~~Adz:Right~~Mr. O'Flaherty, who is a communications consultant, has expressed interest in the development directions of St. Kitts and Nevis
