CHARLESTOWN Nevis, 13th April 2011 - It came down to 22 runs required from 12 balls and for the appreciative gathering at the ET Willet Park, with the Nevis under 15 team batting, it was a real possibility. The Manchester College under 15’s however, had other ideas.

The first ball of the penultimate saw Shelton Forbes cutting and missing outside the off stump; the second ball he tapped straight into the hands of short extra cover - a soft dismissal; ball three was swung lustily by Trevin Nisbett for a well run two; ball four connected with the batsman’s pads - a crucial dot ball; ball five swung by Nisbett, backward of square for four – and the Nevisian supporters again found their voices; final ball swung in the air over extra cover - another well run two. Eight runs from the over and Nevis under 15’s with one over remaining were 99 for 8 from 19 overs. They therefore required all of 14 runs from 1 over and there was tension at the ETW Park.

The young Englishmen carefully set the field and it turned out to be a bit of an anticlimax as a combination of very clever bowling from the big fast bowler and some missed swings by the batsmen saw the Nevis team just managing six runs from the over.

The Nevis under 15 team 105 for 8 at the end. Earlier in the day on an overcast and rain affected morning, the Manchester College team had posted a competitive 113 when they batted first.

The captain and Coach of the team both expressed joy at winning a game in Nevis, having lost the previous day.

The team is set to depart for the UK sometime today after completing a productive tour of the Federation.
