ROADTOWN Tortola, April 15th 2011 - This was the view of Carvin Malone at the dedication and official naming ceremony of the R&R Malone Complex on Thursday April 14, 2011 at Pockwood Pond, in the 3rd District.

The complex, which received financing from First Caribbean Bank, has been named after Randolph aka ‘Mose’ and the late Ruth Malone, who much credit was given to for their vision, labour and enterprising character.

“The Path that we walked on this journey is truly on the backs and in the footsteps of Randolph & Ruth Malone for they have paved the way with faith, as plentiful as sand. Because of the confidence placed in us and because of the hard work and kindness of many we are able to walk that road and stand before you today…Shakespeare is finally defeated for the GOOD that my mom and dad have done will long live after both of them.”

Mr. Malone said the complex, when completed, would consist of over 72,000 square feet of office, wholesale, retail and storage spaces locate in 5 buildings, three in phase 1 and the additional two in phase 2. Tenants already include the Department of Motor Vehicles, Kendall Auto Care, Five Girl Valve Center – a Multi Variety Store, Delta Petroleum Administrative Offices, One Stop Auto, QWOMAR Pharmacy, Ali Galli Ladies Wear, Environmental Care, CBE Expo & Sales Depot, Transcaribbean Tiles Depot, ATU – VP Bank Offshore Center and a number of space is available for rent.

The ceremony was attended by approximately 150 persons including Premier Hon. Ralph T. O’Neal OBE, Deputy Premier Hon. Dancia Penn, Minister of Communications and Works and 3rd District Representative Hon. Julian Fraser, 5th District Representative Hon. Elvis Harrigan and At Large Representative Hon. Keith Flax.

The Premier credited Mr. Carvin Malone as the driving force behind the realisation of the complex and hailed him as a man with vision and who was enthused about bringing development to the Virgin Islands. Premier O’Neal also said he was a personal friend of Mr. Randolph Malone and family and described him as a man who worked hard to educate his children. This he said is now bearing fruits as the children, Keith, Carvin, Meade and Jane are now making a contribution to their homeland.

Meanwhile, Mr. Malone said the land where the complex now stands was purchased in the 1960’s by his parents for the expansion of Virgin Islands Block — a pioneering block manufacturing company.

Wife of Carvin Malone, Pernis Malone, said in her Vote of Thanks that the complex was a collaboration of a great deal of teamwork on the part of many professionals.

“It represents the end of a long journey and further represents what people can do with hard work and persistence.  Randolph Malone and the late Ruth Malone started this a long time ago,  Randolph “Mose” you worked hard and long and now you have this complex named in honor of you and your late wife, and the scene of progress that now surrounds you, is a result of a seed you planted a long time ago that has grown into a large tree,” Mrs. Malone said.
