    DIEPPE BAY, ST.KITTS, April 19th 2011 (Beaumont Park) - Racing resumes on Easter Sunday, April 24th, with a first race post time of 3:00pm at beautiful Beaumont Park. The Dieppe Bay oval has scheduled a program of six exciting Thoroughbred horse races, with a full afternoon and early evening planned around activities to be enjoyed by the whole family.  You will definitely want to be stylin’ and participate in the Sunday Easter Hat Parade Contest.

     


    Entertainment will be provided by DJ Wett Dutt, Grand Masters Band, Infamus, and Shakki Star Fire. There will be chances to win cash, phone credit, and handsets.  MASA (Medical Air Services Association) is promoting a family membership plan, which will be given away in a drawing valued at $810 USD. To become eligible, simply make a $10 ECD bet on any of the races. Official rules for eligibility will be posted at the track in various locations and on the reverse side of the “Race Sheet”. Race Sheets are free and available as you enter the facility and at the betting windows. 

     


    Sponsored by Digicel, the “Digicel Easter Cup”, carrying a purse of EC$10,000, will be tested at the 7 furlong distance for Open Company, and will run as the sixth race on the racing program. Entries will be drawn and post positions assigned for this featured race and the undercard this afternoon, April 19th.  A release will be made of the pre-race analysis.     To add additional excitement to this Easter Day racing program, “The Jockey Challenge Series” begins. This is a challenge for those jockeys participating in the first five events and is not to be construed as a country-to-country match-up. The riders participating will include J’son Liburd of St.Kitts & Nevis, Jeff Jacobs of Antigua, Laird Bailey of Jamaica, Michael Semple of Guyana, as well as Cristian Soto and Jose “Chiqui” Santiago, both from Puerto Rico.

     


    The challenge works by awarding each jockey points based on their mount’s finishes. There will be six horses scheduled to run in each of the first five races. The winning jockey of each designated race will get six (6) points, five (5) for second, four (4) for third, three (3) for fourth, two (2) for fifth, and one (1) for sixth. The jockey with the highest total of points after the first five races will receive a prize of $1,000.00 ECD.

     


    So come out and enjoy Easter Sunday at Beaumont Park. It promises to be fun-filled excitement for the entire family. Gates open at 1:00pm. Admission is FREE!
