BRADES, Montserrat (April 14, 2011) - Operational procedures during and after an emergency were the focus of Thursday's desktop exercise conducted by the staff of the Disaster Management and Coordination Agency (DMCA).

According to director Billy Darroux the exercise was necessary to evaluate the readiness of their staff to deal with emergencies stemming from hurricanes, volcanic eruptions or other disasters.

Logistics officer Kelvin White led the exercise which involved staff members identifying their roles in an emergency context and also looking at their personal and family preparedness plan.

The DMCA is working to ensure it is prepared for the upcoming hurricane season which is predicted to be a "very active" one.
