DIGICEL Press Release

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (April 18th, 2011) – Easter in the Caribbean is a time when young children look forward to flying their kites with their friends and families. Digicel - The Bigger, Better Network, for the third consecutive year, sponsored a “Kite-Making Project” by Mr. Curvis Jeffers.

The children of The St. Christopher Children’s Home and The Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School were presented with over seventy (70) beautifully crafted kites on Saturday 16th April, 2011. The handover took place at The St. Christopher Children’s Home in Fortlands and representatives from Digicel were happy to join in on the event.

Digicel’s Marketing Team and DJ Rucus were greeted with smiles and hugs on arrival at The Children’s Home. The team came bearing gifts such as Digicel hats, pull-string bags and other goodies for the children.  Also present at the event was Mrs. Michelle Jacobs of The Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School, who graciously expressed her appreciation to Digicel and Mr. Jeffers, on behalf of her students.

During a brief ceremony, Digicel’s Marketing Manager, Marsha Lindo said “Digicel commends Mr. Jeffers on this initiative of using his skills to give to the deserving children of the Children’s Home and Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School.” Mr. Jeffers also thanked Digicel for their continued support of the project over the years as he has been able to increase the quantity of donated kites through his partnership with The Bigger, Better Network.

During the day, the Digicel team played games with the children, including hula hoop contests and racing competitions. At the end of the day all the children were rewarded with stadium horns, thunder sticks and other toys. The Bigger, Better Network left the event already looking forward to next year’s event.
