BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MINISTER of International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris said the recently held Taiwanese Trade Exposition was a rich success.
The two-day trade show was held at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel in which some two dozen Florida-based Taiwanese businesses participated with the aim of offering trading opportunities to their colleagues in the Federation.
“Based on the feedback which I received from the visiting Taiwanese delegation headed by Mrs. Tsai Hui Wu, the local exhibitors, our Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the attendees at the two day Expo, I have concluded that the Expo was a resounding success”. Minister Harris said.
He went on to say, “For us at the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Commerce, we hope that a fertile ground has been set for mutual and beneficial long term, commercial and business relations to develop and grow.”
The Senior Minister said he was pleased that some of the local companies were able to meet face to face with their distributors, in some cases for the very first time, to consolidate contacts and establish networks for future actions.
Harris complimented the turnout and said that it was quite beneficial to all exhibitors – local and visiting entities alike.
He also said that the high level of interaction and interest between customers, potential customers and suppliers were desirable.
He declared that it was a win-win situation for the visiting business people and the local business entities but, more importantly, the consumers.
Minister Harris said that having regulary Trade Expos could offer a boost to the business community as long as the show is well managed and the interested persons are well targeted.
“I believe that regular staging of Trade Expos can provide a fillip to the business community once the Expo is well managed and the subsectors of interests are well targeted to increase probability of benefits to the local business community.”
